Payment deferral extension program details
  • Mortgage deferral means that principal and interest payments are skipped for a total of 6 months (the deferral period).

  • Mortgage principal and interest payments will be deferred but are not forgiven.

  • The interest during the deferral period will be added to the outstanding balance of your mortgage and a new cost of borrowing disclosure statement will be provided in due course.

  • If you have insurance, the Bank will continue to collect your regular insurance premiums and pay them to the insurer.

  • If we currently pay municipal property taxes on your behalf, we will continue to pay them as required by your municipality during the deferral period.

  • Deferring your mortgage payments may significantly increase your interest costs over the life of your mortgage, so it's important to carefully evaluate your financial situation and priorities before choosing this option.
